What are Capital.com widgets and what do they do?

Our widgets are tools that help you monitor your trading portfolio, track prices, and interact with the app more frequently – all without needing to open it repeatedly.

Simply put, we designed them to help you make better decisions in the markets. Through  quick access to vital information, they streamline your trading experience so you can stay informed and act faster.

Why we introduced widgets

Through in-depth analysis, we identified a significant group of intra-day traders – those who close more than 60% of their positions within the same day. These high-frequency traders need real-time updates on their positions, including profit or loss details, without the hassle of constantly reopening the app. We also noticed that users monitoring key market levels or looking for specific price patterns would benefit from tracking selected assets by watchlist, giving them quick access to the information they value the most.

To address this, we introduced widgets that offer instant visibility into positions and account summaries, streamlining the trading process and saving time.

We also conducted user testing with select clients to refine the widget feature further. Their valuable feedback helped us align the widgets with real user needs, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Traders found the widgets highly beneficial for their daily trading activities, valuing the convenience and time-saving aspect of having position information readily available on their home screens.

The widgets we offer

Here are the specific widgets available and how they can boost your trading experience.

  • Portfolio widget: Displays details on your open trades, including instrument name, volume, and P&L, while offering quick access to the portfolio tab or specific positions in the app.
  • Watchlist widget: Shows real-time prices of instruments from your watchlist, with easy access to the instrument’s detail page.

On what devices are the widgets available?

Our widgets are available across Android, iPadOS and iOS devices. Please note they have slightly different update intervals based on limitations imposed by the operating system.

What’s next for our widgets?

At Capital.com, we’re driven by tech, and dedicated to bringing you the most sophisticated tools on the market. As such, we’re building on the success of the current widget feature and exploring ways to expand its functionality.

Future updates could include new ways to present data on orders, market news, and more. We’re also exploring the possibility of bringing widgets to wearable devices like the Apple Watch, enhancing accessibility and convenience for our users. Ultimately, our goal is to save you even more time and make your trading workflow as seamless as possible.
